Where the Embue Magic Happens: How a One Hour Building Stakeholder Meeting Can Save 25% or More in Energy and Carbon Savings

At Embue, we like to talk a lot about our technology and how it easily can turn any building into a smart building that delivers energy and carbon reduction and helps property managers do their jobs more efficiently – all while making the building more comfortable for residents.

But technology alone can’t make the building operate optimally, because ultimately, multifamily buildings need to have all of the property’s stakeholders on the same page – and that’s where the magic happens with Embue. In fact, during an initial one hour stakeholder meeting, our customers make changes using the Embue platform that result in an immediate 25% or more reduction in energy usage and carbon emissions.

Here’s how it works:

Just after Embue is installed we schedule a stakeholder meeting with all of the people who have a vested interest in how the building runs:

  • Owners

  • Sustainability consultants and energy managers

  • Property management

  • Site teams

It’s like flipping a switch:  during the meeting, we show them the Embue Super dashboard, and for the first time, everyone gets to see exactly what’s going on in the building, from the temperature in individual units to humidity levels to how central equipment is running.

Usually people start to dive right in and ask things like, “why is apartment 102 at 80°”?! “What’s going on with that boiler?!”

But, while all the new information is great, the real value comes when we walk the team through setting the system up for the first time:

Owners, sustainability consultants and energy managers come to the meeting with set building goals around carbon and energy efficiency, and typically start with implementing reasonable setpoint limits that save energy while keeping residents comfortable. Property management leaders and site teams focus on setting up workflows, set up setpoint profiles and use the bulk configuration tool to implement changes quickly and efficiently. Teams also spend some time looking at the data and using it to troubleshoot issues throughout the building.

Because the Embue Super app was designed for non-digital natives, site teams come up to speed quickly and can use the tool right away to respond to resident calls and to manage and monitor building elements, while sustainability consultants, building owners and managers can access building data from their desktops to monitor and manage building performance.

After the one hour meeting, buildings typically are set up to save 25% or more in energy and carbon reductions and the site team is immediately more productive and responsive to resident calls. The stakeholder meetings are incredibly impactful and are designed to set the building and the building team up for success.
